Gosong Island is an island that is only a stretch of white sand in the middle of the sea and is uninhabited, there are 2 Gosong Island in Karimunjawa located to the east of Karimunjawa and to the west of Karimunjawa Island with a trip of about 1 hour from Karimunjawa Island to the east and about 35 minutes from Karimunjawa Island to the west. The island which only has almost the same area, namely 8 x 5 m2 and 8 x 6 m2, this island is only a stretch of white sand and there are no plants on this island, Gosong Island is one of the beautiful islands in the Karimunjawa Islands.
The eastern island of Gosong is a unique island and is often visited by tourists, tourists can play with the sand and clear waters of Karimunjawa around this burnt island. Besides that, tourists can also see the view of Mount Karimunjawa from the burnt island. Another sensation of this island is that tourists will like walking on the sea. Many tourists are playing on this burnt island for a long time. This island is a place that you must visit when you visit Karimunjawa. On this western island, Gosong Island is no less beautiful than Gosong Island in the east. The surrounding of this very small island has a large and nice coral reef. Colorful coral reefs, will entertain tourists in the world of the seabed, ornamental fish covered with beautiful coral reefs, has given its own impression. So that this place is also used as a tourist spot favored by tourists. Besides the coral reefs, this place also has pretty good views. With a position in the middle of the sea, and has a beach with a diameter of 360 ° and views of the mountains of Karimunjawa Island to the east.
As a national park as well as a marine park, Karimunjawa is home to coral reefs, mangroves, coastal forests, and nearly 400 species of marine fauna. Various types of coral reefs that you can find in Karimunjawa National Park include coastal coral reefs or also known as fringing reefs, barrier reefs, and some patch reefs.
The richness of marine life in the diverse Karimunjawa Islands reaches 51 genera, with more than 90 types of hard corals and 242 species of ornamental fish. Some of the protected biota include root bahar or black coral, red coral, goat’s head, triton triton, hollow nautilus, action stone, and clam. I also often encounter several types of algae here. However, the most commonly seen ones are green algae, brown algae, and red algae.
On some islands tourists can find coastal forests and mangrove forests with the characteristic presence of ketapang, sea cypress, sand teak, setigi, sea waru and black mangroves. Plants that are characteristic in the forests in Karimunjawa National Park are Dewandaru or some call it Nagasari. By the Javanese people this plant is considered sacred, there is even a myth that says that the Dewandaru plant cannot be brought out of this island.
Various land animals can also be found in Karimunjawa, such as deer, long-tailed macaques, 40 species of birds such as green pergam, white-breasted albatross, trocokan or merbah niche, parrots, and hawksbill and green turtles. As a side note, Karimunjawa National Park is one of the few places you can visit to see white-breasted albatross, hawksbill and green turtles which are endangered species that are endangered.
In Karimunjawa there are also several tourist attractions besides West Gosong Island and East Gosong Island such as Menjangan Besar Island as a breeding ground for sharks and turtles, Menjangan Kecil Island as a snortkeling spot to see the beauty of seabed coral reefs, Cemara Kecil Island to see views of white sand beaches and clear water the sea around, usually this place as a resting place to have lunch with grilled fish together.
